Purpose

The G8+ alliance —Universidad de Medellín, Universidad EIA, Universidad EAFIT, Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, Universidad Nacional de Colombia Medellín Campus, Universidad de Antioquia, Universidad CES, and ITM— together with Ruta N, seeks to promote collaborative work among Medellín’s higher education institutions to strengthen their scientific, technological, and innovation capabilities. The initiative supports R&D&I projects from concept formulation to prototype validation in relevant environments (TRL 2 to 5). In addition, projects must address the city’s challenges in transportation and mobility, public services, digital transformation in productive sectors, education and culture, health, environmental and agro-environmental issues, infrastructure, and circular economy.

Who Can Apply?

  • Researchers affiliated with G8+ institutions (in articulation with other universities, companies, research centers, social organizations, public entities, and communities).
  • Participation of external partners interested in applying, scaling, or commercializing results is encouraged to ensure knowledge transfer and territorial impact.

  • Receive funding of up to COP $1.2 billion for your R&D&I project.
  • Build opportunities for alliances that enable collaborative work with universities, companies, research centers, social organizations, public entities, and communities.
  • Generate impact, knowledge, and technological development for Medellín’s science, technology, and innovation ecosystem.

How to Participate

  • Join the alliances workshop (Sept 29 – Oct 8, 2025) to connect with other researchers and strengthen your project.
  • Form an inter-institutional alliance (G8+ members + partners).
  • The principal investigator must submit the preliminary registration form (PDF) to their institution’s Research Vice-Rectory before November 14, 2025 – 11:59 p.m.
  • If selected, prepare the full proposal for technical evaluation and pitch before the evaluation panel.
