The challenge: reduce faults in the power lines of Transelca, a company within the ISA group, caused by forest fires. The solution: a solar-powered fire and smoke detector. This device, developed by Adintelo, can be attached to a communication tower and uses cellular networks to detect intrusions, validate maintenance tasks with camera systems, detect vehicles, and provide visual and sound alerts.

By using technology developed specifically for Medellín's tech ecosystem, ISA can prevent fire-related accidents in areas where its infrastructure is located, ensuring service continuity and safety.

The Power of Open Innovation

ISA is one of approximately 28 large companies that found solutions to their challenges through open innovation in 2022. “This is a fundamental mechanism to achieve ISA's 2030 strategic goals, facilitating synergies with entrepreneurs who are willing to propose new approaches. We have created tailored solutions to our specific needs cost-effectively through win-win relationships orchestrated by Ruta N,” stated Ricardo Pabón, a professional at Transelca.

Through the open innovation challenge program, Ruta N connects companies with identified corporate and technological challenges to startups and research groups that can become their solution providers or strategic allies for developing innovative solutions.
