 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you have questions? We'll answer them here

1. Who owns the Generación Tech project?

Generación Tech is a project led by Ruta N and carried out by the Centro de Ciencia y Tecnología de Antioquia (CTA).

2. Does it have any cost for the educational institution or the students?

No. The program is completely free and does not involve any expense for the educational institutions or for the beneficiaries.

3. What population does Generación Tech work with?

The program is aimed at children and adolescents from 3rd grade through 11th grade.
Groups can be made up of the same grade or be mixed, as long as this does not affect the continuity of the training process.

4. Where do the activities take place?

The activities take place within the educational institution.
Generación Tech assigns trainers who accompany the groups throughout the entire training process.

5. What resources must the educational institution have to participate?

The institution must have:
- An adequate space for working with the students.
- An accompanying teacher who supports the process.
Generación Tech takes care of the materials, the trainers and the resources necessary for the development of the program.

6. Must the classes take place in the computer room?

It is not a mandatory requirement, although it is advisable to have a computer room if the institution has one available.
Otherwise, specific uses of these spaces and equipment can be agreed upon according to the needs of the training process.

7. Is the program carried out during the school day or outside of it?

The institution can define whether the training takes place during the school day, outside of it, in a complementary schedule, in research seedbeds or school research centers.
It is recommended to select a schedule that facilitates the continuity of the process and helps minimize dropout.

8. How long does the program last?

The total duration of the program is 56 hours, with the goal of continuously accompanying the academic calendar.
According to this hourly intensity and the institutional schedule, each session lasts approximately 2 hours.

9. Can teachers from the educational institution participate?

Yes. Teachers can join the program in two complementary ways:

- As accompanying teachers of the process: supporting the trainer during the sessions, facilitating alignment with the institutional dynamics and strengthening the continuity of learning in the classroom.

- As participants in the teacher training process: attending spaces designed to strengthen competencies in the pedagogical use of technologies, active methodologies and STEAM approaches, promoting the appropriation and sustainability of the model within the institution.

10. Is Generación Tech a robotics course?

No. Generación Tech is not exclusively a robotics course.
Although at certain moments technological tools are used that may include robotics components, the main focus is on the development of STEAM skills, computational thinking, creativity, problem solving and innovation, through active methodologies such as challenge-based and project-based learning.
Robotics is integrated as a pedagogical tool, within a broader training process aimed at strengthening vocations in Science, Technology and Innovation.

11. What type of skills do students develop during the program?

Students strengthen STEAM skills associated with:
- Critical thinking
- Creativity
- Problem solving
- Teamwork
- Meaningful use of technology
In addition, the program promotes vocations in Science, Technology and Innovation through active methodologies based on challenges and projects.

12. Do students need prior knowledge of technology or programming?

No. The program is designed so that students can participate without prior knowledge of technology or programming.
The activities start from the level of each group and progress gradually, allowing the development of digital skills, logical thinking and creativity at their own pace. However, it is important that students have basic reading, writing and logical reasoning skills, since these facilitate the understanding of the activities, the resolution of challenges and collaborative work.

13. If it is not possible to hold a scheduled session, what can be done?

The session can be rescheduled in coordination with the trainer, defining a new time slot that allows continuity of the process.
It is recommended to report any changes in advance through the official communication channels, to facilitate planning and avoid disruptions in the development of the program.
