First Special Treatment Zone inScience, Technology and Innovation (STI) in the district.
Two layers of intervention:
- Social appropriation and territorial transformation for citizens (residents and visitors).
- Promotion of an area to validate the development of technologies.
The role of Ruta N in theZTE
The Ruta N Corporation plays a key role in the structuring of the model, promoting the articulation of actors, the management to access financing resources , the attraction of companies and the generation of recommendations for the design of public policies that accompany the solutions to identified urban challenges.

What is a Special Treatment Zone?
A Special Treatment Zone is a geographic area strategically designated to promote science, research, technology and innovation through the implementation of special tax, customs, and administrative regimes to facilitate economic and social activities related to STI. These zones promote R&D&I activities , attract investment, foster technological development and improve the competitiveness of the territory, facilitating collaboration between companies, academia, government, citizens and international partners.
FutuMed is the place where Medellin tests the future of the city.
We are launching this area to test and experiment the technological solutions that companies, universities and research groups want to validate to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of Medellin.
If you have a technology related to mobility (sustainable), smart utilities, infrastructure (sustainable) and circular economy, this is the time to test it in FutuMed in arealenvironment and controlled, with the support of Ruta N.

Requirements for technological solutions:
1
To be a legal entity incorporated one year or more ago.
2
The solution should focus on one of the 4 strategic areas (mobility, public services, infrastructure and circular economy).
3
Have a technology maturity level (TRL) between 4 and 6.
4
Demonstrate measurable impact.
5
Generate evidence to facilitate scaling or replicability.
Phases ofthe FutuMedexperimentationcall .
We tell you how the processwill be step by step :
Phase 1: Identification
It all begins with the identification phase, in which we make an open call so that the actors that have technologies ready to be experimented can postulate their proposals through our web page. During this stage, we attend to and resolve any doubts that may arise, and receive applications from those who wish to participate. Subsequently, we carefully review the documentation submitted and pre-select the solutions that meet the established requirements, thus forming a bank of eligible technologies to advance to the next phases of the process.
Phase 2: Enlistment
If your proposal is pre-selected, you will move on to the readiness phase. At this point you will receive methodological support, workshops and personalized advice to design your experiment, adjust the budget and define the social appropriation strategy. At the end, you will have to present a detailed experimentation plan.
Phase 3: Accompaniment
Then comes the formalization. If your plan is selected, you must submit the required documentation to access all the support and resources available in the call for proposals, and sign the initiation agreement. Thus, you will be ready to begin the execution of your experiment and take advantage of specialized support, access to experimentation environments and visibility in the city's innovation ecosystem.
Phase 4: Execution
In the execution phase you will have up to three months to develop your experiment in the field, always with the accompaniment of an expert assigned by Ruta N, who will support you throughout the process.
Phase 5: Closure
Finally, we come to the closing: once the experimentation is over, you will receive feedback on the results, lessons learned and best practices. In addition, your solution will be made visible to experts and actors of the science, technology and innovation ecosystem of Medellín.
