Inmotion Group: Sustainable Mobility Solutions for Major Companies

We spoke with Amalia López and Iván Montoya, leaders in commercial growth at Inmotion Group, about their mobility solutions and partnerships with companies like Mitsubishi.

A Decade of Innovation

Founded 12 years ago, Inmotion Group set out to make a difference in the mobility sector. Their first step was to design electric mobility equipment and engines, achieving such success that they even developed functional prototypes of electric bicycles.

The company’s turning point came when a collaboration with a major cement company in Colombia sparked the need for electric bicycles to connect its corporate offices. From that moment, Inmotion began to realize its vision of making a difference through environmental sustainability.

Today, more than a decade later, they continue to innovate in various areas, always with a clear focus: sustainable mobility.

Navigating the Pandemic’s Impact

It’s a cliché to talk about how the pandemic disrupted businesses, but imagine the impact on a company rooted in mobility. With no one to move, Inmotion Group had to find new opportunities to survive one of the most challenging periods in its history.

Leveraging the technology they had developed in the past and integrating it with Artificial Intelligence, they ventured into the realm of mobility software.

Iván Montoya explains how the company implemented proprietary AI-based software using data collected from bike stations. This technology enables companies to make strategic decisions regarding both internal and external mobility. Inmotion also formed international partnerships with strategic developers to expand their portfolio, addressing mobility needs beyond logistics.

Diverse Solutions for Modern Needs

Inmotion’s services are now highly diverse, catering to companies seeking to solve internal mobility challenges. Their process begins with a diagnostic phase, which, according to Amalia López, provides a detailed analysis of mobility behaviors and habits. Based on the findings, they design tailored strategies that make up Inmotion’s portfolio, including:

  • Carpooling
  • Fixed-route transportation
  • On-demand corporate transit
  • Smart routing

A Strategic Partnership with Mitsubishi

Through a connection facilitated by Ruta N and its Specialized Innovation Nodes program, Inmotion Group began discussions with Mitsubishi Corp. The international company sought to explore digital transformation opportunities in mobility, making Inmotion a perfect fit.

Felipe Hernández Báez and Rony Fabián Prieto, commercial representatives of Mitsubishi in Colombia, noted the significant contributions of Medellín’s Science, Technology, and Innovation ecosystem to their company, despite their operations being based in Bogotá.

“We don’t just reach the people experiencing a problem; we engage with key players involved in product and solution development, thanks to Ruta N,” the executives shared. They added that Medellín has enabled them to connect with medium and large companies to better understand mobility solutions in the city.

Shaping the Future of Mobility

This strategic collaboration with Mitsubishi reinforces Inmotion Group’s position as a pioneer in mobility, opening new possibilities for the development of 21st-century solutions. By integrating sustainability, technology, and innovation, Inmotion continues to lead the way toward a smarter, greener future.
