Do you know what Transformative Innovation is?
By Ruta N -Now more than ever, the world demands change: societies need to renew their policies to ensure a sustainable future for all.
What can we do? One solution is to begin changing certain behaviors and responsibilities regarding how we interact with each other and, especially, with the environment. This requires collective efforts from citizens, academia, the government, and the private sector.
A useful model is to ask if what we are doing, changing, or transforming aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals.
This is the idea behind transformative innovation, which aims to shift mindsets about behaviors that negatively impact the planet.
How does it work?
It involves experimenting with various alternatives to social, economic, and environmental practices that need change. The next step is to monitor and evaluate these actions to adjust, improve, and modify them as necessary to achieve the desired outcomes.
Countries like Sweden, Finland, Norway, and South Africa have adopted this model for over 20 years, achieving significant transformations in areas such as mobility, agricultural production, water resource use, and energy production, among others.
