The World Economic Forum noted that the main asset of the capital of Antioquia lies in its people.

The World Economic Forum recognized Medellín as an international benchmark for its focus on social investment, noting that the city’s greatest asset is its people. The mention came through an article published on its digital platform, which outlines how the District has oriented its public policies toward the well-being and capacity-building of its citizens.

In terms of employment, the model has shown concrete results. Medellín has supported more than 50,000 people through income-generation programs. In addition, 136 job fairs have been brought directly to neighborhoods, with the aim of facilitating access to employment opportunities and boosting the local economy.

In education, the city has reduced its dropout rate from 5.4% to 2.4%, in part thanks to programs such as En el Colegio Contamos con Vos, which have enabled nearly 6,000 children and young people to return to the education system. Moreover, initiatives like EstudIA aim to train 50,000 young people in digital skills, in line with current labor market demands.

The Mayor’s Office of Medellín has also promoted strategic partnerships to strengthen local talent. Among these, the collaboration between Ruta N, the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution Medellín (C4IR), and Google stands out. Over the past two years, more than 35,000 people have registered to access free training in digital skills and generative artificial intelligence, further consolidating the capital of Antioquia as an innovation ecosystem with global reach.
