With Horizontes Senior, participants will develop digital skills focused on employability and income generation.

With the aim of strengthening digital, socio-emotional, and productive skills—and thereby promoting active inclusion in the digital economy—Ruta N introduced Horizontes Senior, a new training program aimed at people between 45 and 75 years of age. The initiative, developed in partnership with the Saldarriaga Concha Foundation, is part of the Medellín Mayor’s Office’s commitment to consolidating the Silver Economy, a concept related to products and services designed for people over 50.

This program recognizes the strategic value of talent and experience in economic and social development. Likewise, it seeks to break age-related stereotypes by positioning older adults as key players in the labor, productive, and technological sectors.

“Experience is not erased; it is transformed, updated, and strengthened. With Horizontes Senior, we want to show that the talent of this population continues to be essential for the city and that, with the right tools, it can be fully integrated into the challenges and opportunities of the digital economy” said Ruta N Executive Director Carolina Londoño.

The goal is to train up to 100 participants across two levels—Junior and Senior—depending on their prior experience, through a hybrid format that combines virtual training, in-person sessions, and personalized mentoring.

Throughout the program, participants will develop skills in Excel, data visualization, basic analysis with Power BI, programming fundamentals in Python, data analytics, and basic artificial intelligence, in addition to socio-emotional competencies focused on employability and income generation.

The program also strengthens skills such as leadership, adaptability, communication, resilience, and purpose, which are essential at this stage of life.

Horizontes Senior incorporates intergenerational interaction spaces, such as Knowledge Cafés, which facilitate dialogue among participants, companies, experts, and innovation ecosystem stakeholders, expanding opportunities for connection, learning, and collaboration.

The call for applications will be open until March 9 or until the maximum number of participants is reached. Requirements include having at least 250 weeks remaining before retirement, having completed secondary education, residing in Medellín or its metropolitan area, and having access to a computer, an internet connection, and 6 to 8 hours per week available for training. To apply, interested individuals must visit rutanmedellin.org.
