Participants will receive guidance from international experts in fund acceleration and structuring, capital raising, and portfolio development.
Ruta N and Coolwater Capital, a U.S.-based firm specializing in the training and development of venture capital fund managers, have joined forces to strengthen Medellín’s investment ecosystem. As a first step, they have launched an open call to select 20 high-potential investors who will receive support to create or strengthen investment vehicles focused on startups in the city.
Applications will remain open until July 31 at rutanmedellin.org. The program is aimed at family offices, angel investors, emerging funds, micro-funds, and corporate investors that currently invest or are interested in investing in Medellín and want to professionalize their venture capital strategies while incorporating the city into their investment thesis. Participants will gain access to specialized training, mentorship, and international networks to strengthen their investment capabilities and channel more private capital toward high-impact startups.

Through this initiative, together with Coolwater Capital, we continue strengthening Medellín’s position as a global benchmark for innovation, entrepreneurship, and venture capital by connecting our talent and startups with growth opportunities on a global scale," said Carolina Londoño, Executive Director of Ruta N.
The initiative is part of Medellín Venture Capital, Ruta N’s strategy to position the city as a leading Latin American hub for smart capital. Through a hands-on methodology led by international investors and industry experts, the program will cover topics such as fund acceleration and structuring, portfolio construction, institutional fundraising, risk management, and international co-investment.
Selected participants will also gain access to networking opportunities with venture capital funds, Limited Partners (LPs), and other strategic players in the global investment ecosystem. Since 2019, Coolwater Capital has supported more than 350 emerging funds worldwide, whose managers have collectively mobilized over US$5.5 billion for startups.
Through initiatives like this, Medellín continues to build a stronger ecosystem that enables companies to scale from the city to global markets, with the support of Ruta N, the agency that accelerates the District’s economic and social development through science, technology, and innovation, creating more and better opportunities for people every day.
