More than 50 journalists took part in an AI workshop led by Ruta N’s Think Tank

Through hands-on exercises, participants learned how to use various technological tools to support their work.

Today, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is raising new questions, challenges, and opportunities to tell better stories. In this context, and in commemoration of Journalists’ Day, Ruta N’s Think Tank delivered the virtual workshop “Journalism in the Age of the Prompt,” which brought together more than 50 local, regional, and national journalists.

The session focused on the impact of AI on journalism, highlighting the need to become familiar with these tools. Álvaro Agudelo, strategist at Ruta N’s STI (Science, Technology and Innovation) Think Tank, explained the significant evolution of AI in recent years and its effective use in areas such as communications.

Through practical examples, he demonstrated how a well-crafted prompt can improve the quality of AI-generated responses, while a lack of context can lead to less reliable results. He also addressed the challenges journalism faces when using artificial intelligence, underscoring the importance of human oversight to verify generated information. Finally, a range of useful tools for journalists was presented.

In this way, Ruta N continues to foster valuable spaces aimed at strengthening the communication of science, technology, and innovation across the District.
