Innovation Survey Socialization Workshops Begin
By Ruta N -The territories that advance the fastest are those capable of measuring and managing their knowledge. Medellín has followed this path with determination. Since 2014, the District Innovation Survey —a joint effort between the Mayor’s Office of Medellín and Ruta N— has made it possible to understand how companies invest, collaborate, and transform their activities through Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI).
In a context where the global average investment in R&D as a percentage of GDP is 1.7%, compared to 0.5% in Latin America and 0.3% in Colombia, having accurate information is essential to guide development decisions.
Today, the city is taking a more ambitious step. With the support of the Colombian Observatory of Science and Technology (OCyT), the most comprehensive snapshot of Medellín’s and the Valle de Aburrá’s STI system is being developed. This new measurement will integrate the perspectives of companies, universities, research centers, and public entities, providing an updated and reliable map of how innovation moves in the region — and where the main challenges and opportunities lie.
To move forward with this process, Ruta N has launched a series of Innovation Survey 2024 socialization workshops, available until November 26. These in-person and virtual sessions highlight the importance of participation to strengthen the quality of the data that guide investment in knowledge.
During the workshops, participants will learn about the global landscape of STI investment, Medellín’s progress in innovation measurement, and the methodology used in the new edition of the survey. In addition, attendees will be able to ask questions, share best practices, and receive guidance on how to complete the survey efficiently.
If your organization has been invited to participate in the survey, please confirm your attendance at the workshop HERE.
Remember, the process of completing the survey is simple. Each organization must:
1️⃣ Designate the person responsible for responding to the survey.
2️⃣ Register with the Colombian Observatory of Science and Technology (OCyT) to receive a username and password.
3️⃣ Log in to the platform and complete the three modules of the survey: investment and financing, human resources, and innovation results.
