FutuMed is Medellín’s gravitational field, with Ruta N as its heart: an ecosystem with enough density in talent, infrastructure, and citizen participation to attract global technologies and put them to the test in the real world. I+D Promotion
We promote research and development through collaborative work among Medellín’s higher education institutions, strengthening scientific, technological, and innovation capabilities. We support R&D&I projects from concept formulation to prototype validation (TRL 2 to 5), addressing the city’s major challenges in mobility, public services, digital transformation, health, education and culture, the environment, agro-environmental development, infrastructure, and circular economy.
Experimentation
An innovative funding model that drives the validation of technologies in real-world environments, transforming Medellín’s major challenges into solutions that improve quality of life. This scheme ensures transparency, reduces risk, and positions the city as a living laboratory for innovation. Here, companies, universities, and research centers can test and mature technologies at TRL 5 or 6 in sectors such as fintech, proptech, energytech, healthtech, logtech, agritech, and mobilitytech.

Technology that puts government at the service of people The smartest cities in the world are not born by chance: they are built with long-term vision, data and technology at the service of people. Cities such as Singapore with its Smart Nation program, Kiev with its Global Govtech Center and Estonia with its online public services system that generated savings of up to 2% of GDP per year are examples of this.
Citizen 360
Led by the Digital Innovation Secretariat of the Mayor’s Office of Medellín and Ruta N, it seeks to provide faster, more accessible, and more personalized responses by eliminating duplication and anticipating needs through data analytics and artificial intelligence.

DAP
Led by the DAP (Administrative Department of Planning of Medellín) and Ruta N, this project strengthens the management of information related to the Land Use Plan (POT) through technological tools and data analytics. Its goal is to ensure reliable, accessible, and integrated territorial information for more efficient, transparent, and participatory strategic planning.
What it aims to do:

Manage and unify data Integrate alphanumeric and cartographic databases into the District Data Lake under quality standards.

Mobility for All TMF
Under the premise of Mobility for All, Ruta N and the Toyota Mobility Foundation are working on a series of challenges aimed at piloting and scaling innovative, inclusive, and sustainable solutions that help improve the accessibility, physical safety, and reliability of public transportation in Medellín. These efforts promote conditions that support greater autonomy and participation for people with reduced mobility, particularly those who use wheelchairs or other assistive devices in their daily travel.
