Carolina Londoño Peláez, New Executive Director of Ruta N

The Board of Directors of Ruta N has appointed Carolina Londoño Peláez as the new Executive Director. Starting today, she will lead the team dedicated to transforming Medellín through Science, Technology, and Innovation.

Carolina is a biomedical engineer, a graduate of the joint program between Universidad EIA and Universidad CES, with a specialization in Biotechnology and a master’s degree in Biochemistry from Universidad Francisco de Vitoria. She also holds a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences from UPB. Her strong educational background and experience have led her to play key roles in the fields of science, education, research, and technology.

 

In her early professional career, she contributed to projects generating new knowledge in cell therapy, regenerative medicine, and biomaterials. At Universidad CES, she made a significant impact as a professor and leader of the Health Biotechnology Laboratory, applying her expertise in regenerative medicine and organ and tissue regeneration.

 

Her commitment to innovation began with her leadership in developing engineering programs, prioritizing the Biomedical Engineering undergraduate program. Carolina also helped build the innovation ecosystem at Universidad CES, taking on both technical and leadership roles in university-industry-government projects to develop technological solutions with a real-world impact. Most recently, she served as Director of Research and Innovation at Universidad CES, driving science, technology, and innovation to improve lives.

 

At Ruta N, Carolina aims to unite academia, industry, government, and society to work on projects involving advanced technologies with social impact and knowledge appropriation. She emphasizes that Ruta N has a tremendous opportunity as part of the Science, Technology, and Innovation District to transform lives and establish itself as a benchmark in Latin America.
