The Corporación Ruta N has unveiled Medellín Next, a new initiative designed to take 20 startups and 5 scaleups (companies that have already surpassed the startup stage) to the next level. These ventures, which are contributing to the city’s transformation, will become the next generation of Medellín’s business fabric and expand into international markets.

The call for applications is open until October 3 at rutanmedellin.org. Eligible ventures must be technology-based companies in a scaling phase. They must have a validated business model (product or service with proven market sales and traction), generate at least USD 1 million in annual revenue, employ a minimum of five full-time team members, have at least one active founder working full time, and present a clear growth and scalability plan.

“At Ruta N, we work to ensure that entrepreneurs find the support, trust, and connections here that allow them to grow without limits. This first generation of Medellín Next will reflect the talent, innovation, and global vision that define our Science, Technology and Innovation District,” said Carolina Londoño, Executive Director of Ruta N.

Selection criteria include companies already generating impact and demonstrating the ability to expand their reach through connections with corporate partners, investors, and increased visibility on international stages.

The selected ventures will benefit from an intensive two-and-a-half-month program that includes an initial diagnostic and personalized work plan, high-level specialized mentoring, masterclasses, pitch training, and strategic networking opportunities.

From this first cohort, five scaleups will be chosen as Medellín’s innovation ambassadors for 2025 and 2026, leading visibility, connection, and internationalization strategies. They will also serve as mentors for new entrepreneurs and act as role models for children and young people, inspiring them to view entrepreneurship as a path to economic and social development.
