Participating organizations will gain access to strategic data and benefits in Ruta N’s calls for proposals.

The Alcaldía de Medellín, through Ruta N, is launching the “CTi Ecosystem Pulse” program, an initiative that will measure the state of innovation and analyze the trajectory, current landscape, and future trends (2024–2026) in research, innovation, and technology.

One of the strategy’s major milestones will be the publication of the District’s first official innovation ranking. This ranking will enable organizations to benchmark themselves within the sector, make more strategic decisions, and strengthen their national and international positioning.

“As a District, we must work with real data and have a platform that allows us to rank the different actors in the city in order to make informed decisions and understand how technology, innovation, and research are evolving. Anyone engaged in technology, innovation, and development can participate, because this will allow them to access analytics not only about their own performance, but also how they compare with other actors in the city”, said Carolina Londoño, Executive Director of Ruta N.

The ranking will assess three categories: Investment, representing the total amount organizations allocate to research, development, and venture capital; Human Resources, referring to the capacity of their talent to innovate and generate new knowledge; and Innovation, which identifies the revenue generated through the implementation or improvement of new products and services.

Two rankings will be published this year. For the first, the call is open to companies, universities, specialized centers, guilds, and associations that develop or promote innovation processes. Results will be published in mid-2026, and requirements can be found at rutanmedellin.org. The second ranking will be revealed at the end of this year, with positions determined from participants registered in the first edition.

Another key benefit for participants will be access to a technology platform where they can monitor both their own performance and that of the broader ecosystem. The tool will also provide strategic data and benchmarking reports to help identify gaps and competitive advantages, enabling sector stakeholders to make decisions grounded in local market realities.

Additionally, participating organizations will receive extra points in Ruta N calls for proposals, access to specialized training such as applied Artificial Intelligence courses, digital tools, and Venture Capital opportunities for medium and large enterprises.

Through this initiative, Ruta N aims to measure, energize, and better understand the state of the ecosystem. By analyzing both past and present performance, Medellín’s “CTi Ecosystem Pulse” will help anticipate technological and market trends, foster tailored solutions to community needs, and reinforce the city’s position as a hub for economic and social transformation.
