The new feature identified 708 active startups generating more than 17,000 jobs in the city.
Medellín continues to strengthen its leadership in innovation through the progress of StartIA, Ruta N’s platform designed to organize, showcase, and connect stakeholders within the technology-based entrepreneurship ecosystem. As part of this evolution, the organization has introduced StartIA Intelligence, a new artificial intelligence-powered feature that transforms industry data into actionable insights to support decision making, identify opportunities, and better understand ecosystem dynamics.
The tool combines data consolidated by StartIA with external sources to provide a broader, evidence-based view of the state of technology-driven entrepreneurship in the city. Analyses conducted over the past year show that Medellín is home to 708 active startups generating more than 17,000 jobs, reporting sales exceeding COP 2.47 trillion, and raising more than USD 761 million in capital. In addition, 71.1% of these companies recorded revenue growth during 2025, while 70.8% are already operating profitably, indicators that reflect the strength and growth potential of the ecosystem.
“Cities that transform their future are those that turn knowledge into real opportunities for people. With StartIA Intelligence, we are transforming startup data into strategic intelligence to make better decisions, because when we connect talent, technology, and vision, we drive business growth and strengthen Medellín’s position as a leading innovation hub for Colombia, Latin America, and the world,” said Carolina Londoño, Executive Director of Ruta N.
One example that demonstrates the value of the connections generated through the platform is Panadería Susi, a traditional bakery that identified a need related to production planning and management. Through StartIA, the company connected with Opalytica, a startup specializing in technological solutions to optimize production processes. As a result of this collaboration, the company has achieved operational cost efficiencies of up to 30%, thanks to improved traceability, more digital management processes, and a more efficient and measurable operation.
StartIA’s progress is also reflected in tools designed to strengthen connections within the ecosystem. During StartCo 2026, another feature called StartIA Live enabled the 50 entrepreneurs supported by Ruta N to register 654 real-time connections. Of these, 42% were related to business opportunities, 24% to potential partnerships, and 4% to financing and investment opportunities.
The information consolidated by the platform has also contributed to Medellín’s international recognition. The city recently reached 130th place in the StartupBlink 2026 ranking and was recognized as the best destination in Latin America for doing business within the startup ecosystem, according to the Colombia Tech Report 2026. Through tools such as StartIA, Ruta N facilitates connections among strategic stakeholders and transforms information into tangible opportunities for growth, competitiveness, and development.
