The strategy brings together programs such as Generación Tech, Horizontes Senior, bootcamps, and artificial intelligence training in partnership with Google and C4IR Medellín.
Ruta N, Medellín’s innovation hub, has been consolidating an accessible and inclusive strategy for the city that integrates education, science, and technology through initiatives that have reached different population groups with a practical approach. During the first four months of 2026 alone, more than 13.000 people have benefited from these programs and transformed their lives.
Among these achievements which have also strengthened key skills for the digital economy and reinforced the innovation ecosystem is Generación Tech, a program that brings together more than 5,000 students and 417 teachers across 208 public and private educational institutions. Through different methodologies, children and young people develop solutions to challenges in their communities from an early age. This year, the strategy reached a historic milestone, growing participation by 725%, meaning its impact increased sevenfold.
“At Ruta N, we work to ensure that science, technology, and innovation reach people. Through knowledge-sharing programs and future skills training, we are connecting the District’s talent with real opportunities for quality employment. This allows us to close social and economic gaps while strengthening an ecosystem that places people at the center of development,” said Ruta N Executive Director Carolina Londoño.
At the same time, Ruta N has promoted intensive training through bootcamps focused on high-demand technological skills, with the goal of fostering job placement opportunities. Between February and March, two bootcamps in Robotic Process Automation (RPA) were held in partnership with Pix Robotics, along with another focused on applied artificial intelligence in collaboration with Smart Talent TI Colombia. A total of 1,654 people participated in these programs, of whom 1,094 earned certifications. These results reflect an approach centered on competency development and compliance with standards at every stage of the learning process.
In the first edition of the Horizontes Senior program, aimed at people between 45 and 75 years old, 1,113 people registered and 120 participants began their training. This initiative promotes skills updating and seeks to generate income opportunities by expanding access to technology education at different stages of life.
Another milestone during this period is the call for applications for generative artificial intelligence training, developed together with Google and the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) Medellín, which received 25,862 registrations. To date, 11,696 beneficiaries have created accounts on the platform and 6,112 are currently undergoing training. Participants in this initiative mainly reside in the districts of Belén, Robledo, Laureles-Estadio, and El Poblado, as well as in the city’s five rural townships. In addition, 53% are heads of household, reflecting the social impact of the strategy.
Once again, the people of Medellín continue to demonstrate their interest in improving their skills and taking advantage of the opportunities offered by the District. In this way, Ruta N and the Mayor’s Office of Medellín continue advancing their commitment to knowledge as a driver of transformation.
