The sixth edition of the event brings together 20 investment funds and 20 startups, along with family offices, corporations, development banks, and public-sector representatives.

With the participation of 20 international investment funds and 20 selected startups, the sixth edition of Smart Capital gets underway in Medellín, six years after its last edition. The event, organized by the Medellín Mayor’s Office, Ruta N, and the Medellín Chamber of Commerce for Antioquia, in partnership with ANDI del Futuro, Starter, and ACI, will examine transformations in the Venture Capital market, new scenarios for venture capital, liquidity alternatives, and public-private co-investment models.

"This event has a direct impact on the city's startups through joint efforts. Smart Capital brings training, companies, and funds that will work with these technology-based companies that we are promoting. This space is very important for Medellín because it allows us to continue strengthening the innovation ecosystem," said Daniela Fleishman, Director of Business Development at the Medellín Mayor’s Office.

The program features more than 15 international speakers from Brazil, Argentina, the United States, and Mexico, representing organizations such as LAVCA, Carta, SoftBank, Capria Ventures, L40, Confrapar, Alaya Capital, Fondo de Fondos México, and CORFO. Family offices, corporations, development banks, and public-sector representatives will also take part.

Over the two-day event, participants will have access to six talks and panel discussions, six specialized sessions tailored to different investor audiences, an investment round connecting funds and startups, and a dedicated space for 30 women investors. Ruta N will also feature the Inversómetro, an interactive experience that shows how capital is being mobilized in Medellín. So far in 2026, startups in the city have received US$216 million in investment.

"Smart Capital is a space for conversations that can lead to more capital becoming available. It is not simply about connecting capital with investors and entrepreneurs; it is about identifying opportunities, encouraging families to invest in funds, and multiplying all the capital available in Medellín’s District of Science, Technology and Innovation," said Santiago Henao, Director of STI Business Development at Ruta N.

Smart Capital strengthens connections between capital, knowledge, and technology-based companies developing new solutions in Medellín and seeking to expand into markets across Latin America.

Through the District and Ruta N, Medellín is strengthening the conditions needed to become a meeting point for smart capital, connecting investors and companies while creating new opportunities for investment and growth that contribute to the city’s economic and social development.
